It's been since the beginning of January when DJ Frederick’s Free Radio Skybird was last heard surfing the shortwaves. But don’t worry, another session is coming up, and soon it will be time to hang five again. The next transmission is scheduled to occur on Sunday 16th February at 1400 UTC on 6070 kHz via Channel 292. The show will be rebroadcast on Sunday 23rd February at 1100 UTC on 7440 kHz. If you haven’t got a shortwave radio (why the heck not?) it can also be heard on the SDR link on Channel 292’s site here.

The programme will feature One Deck Pete presenting the Skybird Mailbag. There’ll also be an airing of Pete’s “Less is more” mix that has new tunes from Mai, Mohammad-Reza Shajarian & Seventh Soul and Blanco. Mixes from Pete's previous shows are available at his audio podcast page here. Also featured will be my own Radiophonic Laboratory tuning in this time to the world of the satellites.

The programme will be available on DJ Frederick’s Soundcloud page a day or so before transmission date if you want to hear it in true stereo but we here prefer the show with added noises from the ionosphere. Tune in and turn on! #shortwavesnotdead #madtone #freeradioskybird

"On Saturday 5th October at 2200 UTC (6 PM EST) there’s a new transmission from DJ Frederick’s Free Radio Skybird on 6070 khz on shortwave. The later time which will help propagation hopefully is broadcast by Channel 292 ( http://www.channel292.de/ ) and if you haven’t a shortwave set can also be heard on the SDR link on their site here ( http://websdr.ewi.utwente.nl:8901/?tune=6070am ).

This month’s programme will feature: Justin Patrick Moore’s Radiophonic Laboratory, Steve with Mini-indie radio and our very own One Deck Pete presenting the Skybird Mailbag. They will also play his “Solar minimum but the music’s maximum” mix that has tunes from: Froth Whitlam, Dasya, Andre J Kwenda and a worldwide exclusive from Madtone.

The programme will be available on DJ Frederick’s Soundcloud page ( https://soundcloud.com/djfrederick ) the day before, if you want to hear the show in quality stereo. We here prefer it intermingled with the sounds of the ionosphere. Tune in and turn on whichever way you fancy!"
